2023 Yamanashi de Grace
2023

The wine is based on Muscat Bailey A from contract growers in the Hosaka district, Nirasaki city, at the foot of Mt. Kayagatake in northwestern Yamanashi prefecture, blended with Merlot,Cabernet Sauvignon ,Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from our own Misawa Vineyard. The wine is matured in French oak barrels (for about 11 months), followed by a well-balanced assemblage in a manner so as to maximise the varietal characteristics of the respective varieties. The wine is characterized by varietal purity, and freshness of fruit and soft tannins.

Tasting notes

Bright medium ruby colour with a purple rim. A rich nose with fruity aromas such as fresh blueberry and plum, floral aromas such as rose and lavender, subdued oak, accented with soft spice aromas such as nutmeg and clove. Dry on the palate, fine tannins and supple acidity very elegantly expressed, with flavours of blueberry and rose expand in the mouth. On the whole, a refreshing wine characterized by varietal purity.

Chuo Budoshu

From the foothills of Mount Fuji ...

With a history that can be traced back over a century, Grace Wine and the Misawa family are at the forefront of producing quality, age-worthy Koshu. Grace Wine views the essence of wine as the deliciousness derived from aging. It upholds traditional Japanese craftsmanship without being swayed by trends, focusing on the power of grapes and the flavor of the terroir rather than just winemaking techniques. Its philosophy is to envelop the beauty of Japan's nature in wine.

The wineyards, chosen for their sunlight exposure, altitude, drainage, and air circulation, are carefuly tended with meticulous, detailed handwork that draws out the strength of the grapes while engaging in a dialogue with nature.

A vegetarian match. The wine’s salinity reads as savoury.
